UCSF HSE Improvement Phase I

San Francisco, California

This project for the Health Sciences East research building included a master plan and subsequent system upgrades to the HVAC system. The 16-story HSE Building is a center for medical research at the Parnassus campus of the University of California, San Francisco, a world-renowned clinical and research center. An HVAC master plan was created to provide this laboratory with a state-of-the-art energy efficient mechanical system. Implementation of the upgrades included reinforcement and sealing of main supply and general exhaust ducts, and the replacement of the supply air and exhaust air systems while maintaining operation of the building. A mechanical cooling system was also added and individual fume exhaust fans were replaced with a manifolded system.
