BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING

Construction projects involve a complex set of relationships, between parties with different professional backgrounds trying to achieve a very complex goal. Under these difficult circumstances, the quality of information on which projects are based should be of the highest possible standard.

Level of Development (LOD)

The level of Development (LOD) Specification is a reference that enables practitioners in the AEC industry to specify and articulate with a high level of clarity the content and reliability of Building Information Models (BIMs) at various stages in the design and construction process.

In an era where everything is handled digitally and all critical projects make use of a 3D model, it becomes hard for designers to make other teams understand the project expectations.  Most often, holding a BIM model comes with unique challenges where different people perceive different definitions of completion.

LOD creates a standardized definition of what completion means and eliminates the chances of discrepancies associated with project completion.  We can forward the design up to LOD 350 with Precise Geometry and Connections where the Model Elements are graphically represented within the Model as a specific system, object, or assembly in terms of quantity, size, shape, location, orientation, and interfaces with other building systems.  We also work closely with contractors in developing and reviewing Level 400 fabrication ready where the Model Element is graphically represented within the Model as a specific system, object, or assembly in terms of size, shape, location, quantity, and orientation with detailing, fabrication, assembly, and installation information.  We have also been involved in LOD500 Operational / As-built Models where the Model Elements is a field verified representation in terms of size, shape, location, quantity, and orientation.

Construction Document Management

One of the most effective ways of Managing the Construction Document is by the use of BIM Collaborative Pro (BIM360) a cloud-based solution that allows project teams to effectively work in a collaborative environment where it connects all project stakeholders to execute projects from conceptual design through construction and ultimately project turnover.

BIM Execution Plan

We have implemented BIM Execution Plan for many of our large-scale projects.  BIM Execution Plan is to define the foundational framework to ensure the successful deployment of advanced design technologies on the BIM-enabled project.  BIM Execution Plan is about optimizing work and model flow across the project, as contrasted with optimizing siloed interest.
