This new 278-bed, 425,000 sq. ft. patient tower was designed to meet the stringent seismic safety standards established under California State Senate Bill 1953 (SB1953), ensuring the facility remains operational following a major seismic event. The hospital provides advanced acute pediatric care, diagnostic and ancillary services, and includes a Level I emergency department and trauma center. The majority of the structure rises seven stories above grade and incorporates an emergency heliport located on the roof to support critical patient transport and emergency response operations.
Complementing the patient tower, the new Patient Family Pavilion is an eight-story facility designed to enhance pediatric and neonatal healthcare services in a patient- and family-centered environment. The pavilion includes 222 patient beds dedicated to pediatric and neonatal intensive care, pediatric ICU, surgery, laboratory services, material management, and administrative support functions. With one level below grade and seven levels above grade, the project creates an integrated healthcare campus focused on operational efficiency, patient comfort, clinical flexibility, and long-term adaptability for future healthcare needs.
