Designed as a benchmark for sustainable educational facilities in the Middle East, the American School of Dubai campus is situated on a 27-acre site in the Al Barsha district of Dubai. The campus accommodates approximately 1,600 students within a Pre-K through 12th grade curriculum and is organized around landscaped linear garden spaces that promote connectivity, outdoor learning, and campus circulation.
Nearly every classroom is oriented north or south to maximize natural daylight while minimizing solar heat gain and reducing east and west exposure. Sustainability strategies are integrated throughout the development, including shaded walkways, landscaped courtyards, and open spaces designed to capture cooling northerly breezes from the Arabian Gulf. Roofs incorporate louvered screening systems to reduce solar exposure and improve thermal performance.
Each classroom building also features operable windows on two sides together with roof ventilation systems, allowing passive ventilation during cooler months to supplement air conditioning, enhance indoor environmental quality, and reduce overall energy consumption.
